SUMMARY:Councilwoman Ostrander Bench Dedication Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, July 5\, 2024 at 12:00 PM in Miller Meadow for a special bench dedication ceremony honoring Councilwoman Aleta Ostrander who sadly passed away in 2022. \n\nAs residents of Hatboro for over 30 years\, Aleta and her husband\, Mike\, showed their love and passion for our small town through volunteering. They raised three children in Hatboro\, teaching their family to be as involved in their community as they have been throughout the years. \nAleta graduated from Temple University and worked in the rehabilitation department at Moss Rehab. In her free time\, she dedicated herself to making Hatboro a better place with one of her most notable accomplishments being her service on Borough Council. Aleta was first appointed to Borough Council in May of 2006 and served until December 31\, 2011. During this time\, she served on the Public Relations and Community Information Committee\, Public Safety Committee\, Finance Committee\, and Library Committee. Aleta was reelected to Borough Council in 2019 and served a second term from January 1\, 2020 through her passing in December 2022. During her recent term on Council\, Aleta chaired the Public Safety Committee\, chaired the Facilities Committee\, served on the Public Works Committee\, and served on the Pennypack Facility Steering Committee. Aleta always had the best interest of Hatboro in mind and worked extremely hard to keep her community safe\, enjoyable\, and thriving. Aleta also devoted herself to helping transform the newly acquired Pennypack Facility and spearheaded the dedication of the Community Center in memory of long time Librarian Harriet Ehrsam. \nOutside of Borough Council\, Aleta volunteered with the Hatboro Emergency Management Team and served as the president\, vice president\, and treasurer of the Union Library of Hatboro. Her love for community welfare did not end there. Aleta was a long time member of the Red Cross and was a girl scout leader for eight years. Aleta was also a long time member of Heart 9-11\, an organization that helps rebuild after natural disasters and assists communities who have fallen into poverty overseas. \nAleta’s selflessness and kindness made a lasting impact on the Hatboro Community and all those around her. Her love for Hatboro and bettering our community were truly unmatched. This memorial bench will remain in Miller Meadow for years to come and will provide a place for residents to unwind as they enjoy everything Hatboro has to offer—just as Aleta loved to do.

DESCRIPTION:The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 31st annual Moonlight Memories Car Show on Saturday\, July 27\, 2024 from 5 PM to 9:30 PM along York Road in Hatboro. \nYork Road between County Line Road and Horsham Road will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic from approximately 1PM until the conclusion of the show on the day of the event.  Cross traffic will be permitted at Montgomery Avenue\, Moreland Avenue and Lehman Avenue. \nIn anticipation of the road closure\, parking will be prohibited on York Road beginning at 12:00 PM on Saturday\, July 27th. All parked vehicles must be removed from York Road prior to 12 PM on July 27th. Parking is available on neighboring streets (where permitted) but may be limited on the day of the event. Moreland Avenue Municipal Shoppers Parking Lot will be closed to parking beginning 9 PM on Friday\, July 26\, 2024 and will remain closed until 11 PM on Saturday\, July 27th. All vehicles including persons who have a Borough issued parking permit for a reserved spot in the lot must relocate their vehicles prior to this closure. Any vehicles remaining in the lot after this time are subject to towing at the owner’s expense. \nWhen relocating your vehicle\, please remember that parking is still prohibited in the spaces immediately behind the former CVS site (24-28 S. York Road) due to active construction. Although construction will not be taking place the day of the event\, this portion of the lot will still remain closed to vehicles in addition to the remainder of the Moreland and Orchard lot. \nMotorists are advised to plan for detours and parking restrictions on the day of the event.  Please drive carefully and be alert for additional pedestrian traffic when driving in the area. \nWe hope to see you at the car show – one of the best in the region.  If the weather’s hot\, remember to stay hydrated.  Be safe and enjoy the show. \nPlease note\, this event is rain or shine.

This special event will be taking place at the Cressbrook Property\, 445 S. York Road\, Hatboro\, PA 19040.\n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, June 1\, 2024\, Hatboro Police Sgt. Alex Bruckner and his family suffered a terrible loss when their home caught fire. Fortunately\, Sgt. Bruckner\, his wife\, three young children\, mother-in-law and the family pet were unharmed. Sgt. Bruckner’s home and all belongings were a complete loss\, leaving them with virtually nothing. Sgt. Bruckner has served with our department since December 2010 and is a decorated Army Veteran\, serving two tours in Iraq in 2005 and 2007.\n\n\n\nPlease join us at this fundraiser event and enjoy a hot & cold food buffet\, cold beverages\, beer & wine\, and more!
