Hazardous Waste Reminder

A small fire took place in the rear of the Borough’s trash truck the morning of October 9, 2023 while crews were performing their regular collection duties. Thanks to the expertise of the Hatboro Public Works Department, crews were able to quickly and efficiently dump the truck and extinguish the fire before damage occurred to the vehicle. The Borough would like to remind residents that hazardous waste of any kind cannot be placed in your trash or recycling. This includes but is not limited to lithium batteries, flammables, aerosols, fuel, and more. These items cause a huge health and safety risk for our Public Works personnel collecting refuse and for the environment when not disposed of properly. The Borough is working to determine the cause of the fire and where the hazardous waste originated from. In the meantime, we want to remind all residents of the importance of correctly disposing of Hazardous waste.

If residents have any questions or concerns regarding Hazardous Waste, please contact Borough Hall at 215-443-9100 for assistance.
