Illegal Drugs and other offenses:
Hatboro Police conducted an investigation into a reported loud explosion occurring on Friday evening, May 9, 2020 in the vicinity of Windsor Avenue. As a result, police obtained a series of search warrants for a home in the 300 block of Windsor Avenue and the execution of those warrants began on the evening of Monday, May 11, 2020. During the search police seized an amount of suspected controlled substances, weapons and fireworks from within the residence. Additionally, police discovered a large number of turtles of various species and ages at the property, some of which are protected in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Law enforcement officers from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and Pennsylvania Game Commission responded to the scene and took possession of over 70 turtles of various species via a separate search warrant.
The resident, Kevin Lee Courts, 42, has been charged by Hatboro Police with three counts of Possession of Controlled Substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Prohibited Offensive Weapons, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Disorderly Conduct. On May 12, 2020 Courts was arraigned by District Judge Juanita A. Price and released on $100,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is pending.
In addition to the agencies mentioned above, Hatboro Police were assisted by Montgomery County SWAT (East Region), Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Unit, Hatboro Code Enforcement and police canine teams.
