Councilwoman Nicole Benjamin graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 2000 and went on to obtain bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education and Biology from Delaware Valley University. She began her career in education as a teacher at alternative schools, where she focused on work with at risk youth. In 2009, she transitioned to a career as a biotechnician at Merck, a global healthcare company focused on pharmaceuticals, in addition to becoming a member of USW 10-00086. Nicole later went on to pursue an opportunity in training within her company and now supports vaccine manufacturing. Currently, she is also earning a master’s degree in Instructional Technology Management.
Nicole lives in Hatboro with her husband, Colin Shive, and their three children Reilly, Angelo, and Amelia. As a parent of young children, she is personally committed to ensuring that Hatboro is a safe community that is both welcoming and inviting to families, as well as ensuring the Hatboro-Horsham School District continues to provide quality education. Nicole is also involved in volunteer work, both locally with the Hatboro Residents’ Association, and also with the Street Law “Making Positive Choices” program, where she helps to educate middle and high school students about aspects of the law related to everyday life and career coaching.
As a Borough Council member, Nicole works with residents, businesses, and community services to improve the community. She seeks to work with all stakeholders to work toward common goals for a sustainable and vibrant local economy centered on small businesses.
Councilwoman Benjamin serves as chair of the Public Works Committee and as a member of the Policy Committee.
