The Borough of Hatboro offers single stream recycling. This means recyclable items can be co-mingled when placed curbside for collection. Recyclables should not be bagged, but rather placed in a container not to exceed 50 gallons.

WHAT ITEMS CAN BE RECYCLED IN HATBORO?

The following items can be recycled in Hatboro:

  • Aluminum and steel cans (emptied and rinsed)
  • Glass containers and jars (emptied and rinsed)
  • Food and beverage cartons (emptied with cap replaced)
  • Paper (office paper, newspaper, magazines)
  • Flattened cardboard
  • Plastics #1-7 (kitchen, laundry, bath bottles and containers emptied with cap replaced)

Larger recyclable items such as boxes must be broken down so they do not exceed 36 inches in length and 16 inches in thickness.

WHAT CAN’T BE RECYCLED IN HATBORO?

The following items should not be placed curbside for recycling collection:

  • Plastic Bags
  • Broken Glass or Window Glass
  • Food or liquid
  • Styrofoam products
  • Hoses, wires, chains, or electronics
  • Furniture made of wood, plastic, or metal
  • Lightbulbs
  • Mirrors
  • Porcelain/Ceramics
  • Batteries
  • Clothing or linens
  • Hazardous materials of any kind (including aerosol cans or pressurized cylinders)

WHEN DOES RECYCLING COLLECTION TAKE PLACE?

HOW DO I RECYCLE ELECTRONICS?

The Borough of Hatboro is resuming electronic recycling collection beginning in April 2022. Please stay tuned for more information on how to dispose of your televisions, computers, gaming systems, etc.

In the meantime, residents can contact local stores including Best Buy, Staples, etc. that offer electronics recycling services.

My recycling bin broke. Does the Borough offer free recycling containers
The Borough of Hatboro was awarded a 902 Recycling Grant through the Pennsylvania DEP. As a result, the Borough of Hatboro will have recycling bins available to residents for a limited time. New bins are expected to arrive in September 2019. Please stay tuned for distribution information.

Borough Hall also has reflective Recycling stickers that can be placed on the recycling container of your choosing. These stickers are free of charge.

Do I have to separate my recyclables?
Recyclables do not have to be separated. The Borough of Hatboro offers single-stream recycling which means all recyclable materials can be placed in the same container for collection.
