PennDOT Noise Ordinance Waiver Request

The Borough of Hatboro is in receipt of a noise ordinance waiver request submitted by Highway Materials Inc. on behalf of PennDOT. Under this request, Highway Materials requests a waiver from the Borough of Hatboro Noise Ordinance to pave State Route 332 within the Borough of Hatboro (E. Montgomery Ave. from N. York Rd. to Jacksonville and Jacksonville Rd. from E. Montgomery Ave. to E. County Line Rd.) during the overnight hours.

Highway Materials and PennDOT are seeking to perform this overnight paving work specifically between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, Monday through Friday and would like to perform this project in the fall of 2019.

Highway Materials and PennDOT have noted performing this work during the overnight hours will reduce the amount of time it takes to complete the project and noted that any jackhammering/extremely loud work will be performed during the daytime hours to avoid disturbing residents. During the overnight hours, there will be noise created by the vibration of the milling and paving machines; however, this noise is not expected to be much of a disturbance to residents.

Per Borough Ordinance, Hatboro Borough Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Borough Hall, 414 S. York Rd., Hatboro, PA 19040 to discuss the proposed Noise Ordinance Waiver Request. The public is invited to attend this hearing to comment on the proposed waiver request.
