April 12, 2022 Planning Commission Meeting

PRESENT – Chairman McMenamin, Vice Chair Kline, Member Farnen, Member Hegele, Member Shay, Manager Hegele, Engineer Goff, Borough Planner Kennedy, and Secretary Bollendorf were present. 

CALL TO ORDERChairman McMenamin called the April 12, 2022, Planning Commission Meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. 

NEW BUSINESS AND VOTING ITEMS 

CONDITIONAL USE APPLICATION FOR STEEL PENNY CAFÉ LOCATED AT 451 OAKDALE AVENUE  

Manager Hegele stated that Steel Penny Café recently came before Borough Council to transfer a liquor license from a bar in East Norriton that was going out of business as they would like to serve liquor at the location on Oakdale Avenue. Manager Hegele stated that they must amend their initial Conditional use application which allows the Café to prepare and serve food other than the packaged food that was initially allowed. Manager Hegele also stated he will have to come before the Planning Commission for the Conditional use then go before Council for a public hearing. 

Borough Planner Kennedy stated that the PC can make a recommendation to wait until more information is provided from the applicant. 

MOTION:  Member Hegele made a motion to recommend the denial of Steel Penny Café’s Conditional Use Application due to lack of information provided. Motion was seconded by Member Shay, all ayes. Motion carried 5-0. 

All Planning Commission members agreed they would like more information from the applicant to move forward with this application. 

DISCUSSION – 24-28 S. YORK ROAD (FORMER CVS BUILDING) PARKING  

Manager Hegele stated that Borough Planner Kennedy is present tonight in case any members of the PC have questions about parking. 

Borough Planner Kennedy stated the Planning Commission needs to decide on an appropriate density and ratio. 

Member Shay stated it would be helpful to see examples from other projects in the County and all members agreed.  

Planner Kennedy stated he will get the Planning Commission information on other High Density Multifamily Projects in the County. 

PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. 

ADJOURNMENT – Member Shay made a motion to adjourn the April 12, 2022, Planning Commission Meeting. Motion was seconded by Vice Chair Kline, all ayes. Motion carried 5-0. Chairman McMenamin adjourned the April 12, 2022, Planning Commission meeting at 8:08 P.M.
