Business Spotlight: Bob Johnston State Farm Insurance

Located at 5 Williams Lane, Bob Johnston has been with State Farm Insurance since 1978 and an Agent in Hatboro since 1996. His office was previously on York Road, but he and his staff relocated to the heart of downtown Hatboro a few years ago and they love it!

As a kid, Bob always enjoyed coming to Hatboro with his dad and grandfather for the Orangeman’s Parade. Towey’s Tavern was the first bar he ever entered and felt like a big shot getting a ginger ale with his Dad and Grandfather.  The long-term State Farm Agent, Bruce Heath, was retiring and Bob asked to come to Hatboro and was lucky enough to get his wish! Once he was hired by State Farm in 1978 in the PA Regional office in Delaware County, he quickly realized that the Agent position was the best job in the company. In 1995 the company decided that all future agents needed to come from the employee ranks, and he was in the first group hired this way in 1995.

Collectively, he and his team (Rosemary Heinrich and Susan Phipps), have over 100+ years of experience in insurance. Beyond their professional lives, they are all members of the local Hatboro community, therefore have a personal passion and desire to see Hatboro thrive as a place where everyone knows one another and feels at home.  Even though Bob didn’t grow up in Hatboro, he has had the pleasure of seeing the town transform and prosper over the years.

For Bob and his team, business is personal as he and his team care about their customers and their families. They foster a welcoming environment during the good times and the difficult times. Whether celebrating a son or daughter passing their driver’s test or tackling life’s unfortunate events like a home fire or flood – they are there when customers need care and attention the most.

At Bob Johnston State Farm Insurance, they offer all types of insurance – ranging from car, home, life, and renter’s insurance. We even offer insurance for items such as jewelry and insurance on your family’s best friend, your pet (dog and cat).

Their office is open Monday – Friday from 9 A.M. – 5 P.M. and outside of those hours, they accommodate special individual appointment times, and they are backed by a 24/7 call service with State Farm employees.

Bob’s goal along with his team, is to continue to grow their business by building relationships with and continuously giving back to the Hatboro community. They’re hopeful to move past the difficulties triggered by the pandemic and they greatly look forward to a healthy future for our local and state community.  Feel free to stop in and share your stories about Hatboro history as they are also always welcoming historical Hatboro pieces and artwork to showcase on their windows and walls and they have created their version of a time capsule in the office!
