PUBLIC COMMENT- Todd A’Harrah, would like to see more specific information put out for the public.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES- Motion to approve the January 28th minutes was completed, The September 11 minutes were handed in.
BIRDTOWN REPORT GOALS AND ACTIVITIES
ALEX- Gray section, no updates at this time
JENNIFER AND ADAM- Site visit will be scheduled at Crooked Billet, but due to our inclement weather this month, it has been an issue to schedule. Issues to be discussed will be a possible rain garden at Crooked Billet, a native garden and bird strikes to the windows. Three birdhouses have been donated for placement. If these birdhouses are for blue birds, measurements will have to be checked, along with guidance of placement of them, before they can be put in, we can check with Ray Byrnes, the builder
MIKE AND RITA- Yellow section. Mike has reported that the first birding backpack has been created for loan to community members, with a book, binoculars, and more will be made, if interest demands. The library boundaries have been updated, and confirmed, there will be room for planting, native shrub/ pollinator gardens or trees.
KELLY- Peach section- Kelly would like the native plant ordinance to go to the solicitor and use sections from other municipalities, that have already been approved, and the Riparian Buffer ordinance, using ordinances that have been approved. This will help reduce the legal fees for the Boro. She has taken water samples, to Penn State, to check the salt levels. Kelly also recommended that we make use of PERT, the Pennypack Environmental Trust, to use some of their resources and knowledge, since they are already in place. She also mentioned the amount of vines in some of the trees around Pennypack, if we could organize for the cutting and removal of the vines, as a Boy Scout project or a community volunteers.
PLANNING IN UPCOMING EVENTS
Earth Day- April 11th, EAC is working on this
Bingo – has been changed to April 24th, at Pennypack, , Bird Town will be making a basket donation for their raffle
Pool Community Day, It was suggested a rubber duck race, as a fundraiser, and also giving out booklets and information about Bird Town and PERT.
July 4th, It was suggested at the Library, the Declaration of Independence could be read, in costume, sometime in the morning before the heat of the day. Mike W, will look into this.
Monies and donations to Bird Town, could be placed in either a newly opened bank account, or put in as a line item in an account , that is already established in the Boro. There are several grants and donations that are open for Bird Town, that are being looked into.
