Historic Overlay Ordinance Information

The Borough of Hatboro Borough Council, Planning Commission and Historical Commission are actively working with the Montgomery County Planning Commission and staff on developing a Historic Overlay Ordinance for the Borough.

This Historic Overlay Ordinance aims to protect the historic properties within the Borough to preserve the robust history of our town for centuries to come. Both Boards have been working diligently since Fall 2020 to draft this ordinance and recently selected a preliminary list of historic properties to be the first landmarks subject to this historic overlay.

The Borough notified property owners included on the preliminary list of historic properties for the overlay due to being historic or having historic significance. Please note, this list is only preliminary and is subject to change based on feedback from residents and property owners.

The ordinance is currently being discussed during the Historical Commission and Planning Commission meetings. These meetings are public and residents/property owners are strongly encouraged to provide feedback and comments while the ordinance is being developed. These public meetings take place as follows:

  • Historical Commission: Meets every 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM
  • Planning Commission: Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM
  • Borough Council: Meets every 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM

All meetings are currently taking place via Zoom due to COVID-19. Login information for each meeting is available on www.myhatboro.org so residents can participate in the meetings.

All minutes for prior meetings are located on the Borough website (www.myhatboro.org) and recordings of meetings are available on www.facebook.com/boroughofhatboro.
