Proposed Traffic Ordinance Information

NOTICE is hereby given that at the regular meeting of Hatboro Borough Council to be held via Zoom and Facebook Live and/or at Hatboro Borough Hall, 414 South York Road Hatboro, PA 19040, at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2020, at which, Hatboro Borough Council will consider, and if appropriate, will enact an ordinance, which appears below:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HATBORO, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA TO MODIFY CHAPTER 15, SECTION 207, TO REFLECT THE TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ON BONAIR AVENUE AND NORTH PENN STREET IN HATBORO BOROUGH TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW INTERSECTIONS AND TRAFFIC PATTERNS FOR CROOKED BILLET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE

WHEREAS, Hatboro Borough Council has enacted an ordinance Chapter 15 Section 207 designating the direction of certain streets in the Borough; and
WHEREAS, Hatboro Council wishes to amend the direction of travel on Bonair Avenue and Penn Street to accommodate traffic around the area of Crooked Billet Elementary School; and

WHEREAS amending the Street Direction Ordinance to reflect traffic patterns in the proximity of Crooked Billet Elementary School is necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the residents and their families, property owners, business owners and visitors to the Borough;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it, and it is hereby ORDAINED by the Council of Hatboro Borough, and it is hereby ENACTED and ORDAINED by authority of same as follows:

I. Chapter 15 of the Code of Ordinances of Hatboro Borough is hereby amended as follows:

§ 15-207 One-Way Streets Established.

The following are established as one-way streets, and it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle on any one-way street other than in the direction established for traffic on that street:

II. All ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of the inconsistency.

III. The provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable. If any provision of this Ordinance is declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unconstitutional, such determination shall have no effect on the remaining provisions of this Ordinance or on the Code of Ordinances of Hatboro Borough.

IV. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its legal enactment by the Borough Council of the Borough of Hatboro.
