
On Monday, September 21, 2020 Chief Gardner and Mayor Guenst administered the oath of office to Sergeant Paul. Sergeant Paul was promoted from the rank of Officer after serving on the Hatboro Police Department for 12 years. Sergeant Paul is a Veteran of the US Marine Corps, a member of the regional SWAT team, and a member of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force. We would like to congratulate Sergeant Paul on this new, well deserved position within the department!

Sergeant Paul Commendation Award for Bravery
Sergeant Paul was also presented with a commendation award for bravery and outstanding service. While off duty on his way home from work on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at approximately 6 AM, Sergeant Paul discovered a working building fire at the Blair Mill Apartments in Horsham. Without hesitation he stopped and alerted residents who were still sleeping to evacuate the building. He is credited with saving lives due to his action. A person in the apartment where the fire began unfortunately was killed due to the serious fire that destroyed the building; however, many more could have perished if not for the actions of Sergeant Paul.
Officer Simon Commendation Award

Chief Gardner and Mayor Guenst presented Officer Simon with a commendation award for an arrest occurring on March 22, 2020 at 2:54 AM on Jacksonville Road. Officer Simon observed a suspicious make lurking near homes and closed businesses. The subject fled from Officer Simon and fell. The subject was then ordered to remain on the ground, only to get up and attempt to flee again. At that time Officer Simon observed a handgun fall from the subject’s waistband. Although the subject attempted to retrieve the gun, Officers Simon and Dilks used much restraint and were able to safely handcuff and arrest the individual with minimal force resulting in no injuries to them or the subject. The subject was also in possession of methamphetamine and was a convicted felon not to possess a gun, that was ultimately found to be loaded. Congratulations Officer Simon! Thank you for your bravery and dedication to protecting our community on a daily basis!
Officer Dilks Commendation Award

Chief Gardner and Mayor Guenst presented Officer Dilks with a commendation award for an arrest occurring on March 22, 2020 at 2:54 AM on Jacksonville Road. Officer Dilks assisted Officer Simon in the arrest of a suspicious subject lurking near homes and closed businesses on Jacksonville Road. Officers Simon and Dilks used much restraint and were able to safely handcuff and arrest the individual with minimal force resulting in no injuries to them or the subject. The subject was also in possession of methamphetamine and was a convicted felon not to possess a gun, that was ultimately found to be loaded. Congratulations Officer Dilks!
