Press Release, January 25, 2024

At approximately 9 AM, emergency personnel from the Borough of Hatboro and Upper Moreland Township were dispatched to 330 W. Moreland Avenue due to reports of a sheen observed in the creek accompanied by a strong odor of fuel. The Enterprise Fire Company, Hatboro Public Works, Hatboro Fire Marshal, and Willow Grove Fire Company promptly responded to the issue and determined that the sheen was a result of an oil/gasoline leak in the creek. Emergency Personnel immediately worked to determine the responsible party and notify appropriate agencies including the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) as well as place booms in the creek to prevent further spreading. At this time, J&J Spill is working to clean up the area and remediate the issue. Residents may see personnel in or around the creek at Memorial Park, Eaton Park, and downstream as the cleanup process takes place. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Borough Hall at 215-443-9100.
