The special meeting of Borough Council was called to order at 7:00 PM.  The pledge of allegiance was led by Borough Manager Diane Hegele.

Council President Reichner, Vice President Jacobus, Councilmen Myers & Hoover and Councilwoman Hendrickson and Shay, Mayor Schultz, Manager Hegele and Assistant Manager DeRenzis were present. 

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Patsy Meck, 300 S. Linden Avenue and Denise Schultz, 52 Orchard stated they were here tonight to strongly endorse Erin McCuen for the open seat on Hatboro Borough Council.  Erin is a fourth generation Hatboro resident, and that kind of deep-rooted connection to the community that truly matters.  She does not just live here; she invests her time, energy, and heart into making Hatboro a better place for everyone.   Many know Erin through her work on the Planning Commission, where she has been thoughtful, engaged, and a reliable voice.  She brings a balanced perspective, asks the right questions, and always keeps the best interests of Hatboro at the forefront.   But her impact goes far beyond that role.  Erin is an active volunteer across the Hatboro community.  Through her work as the non-profit liaison for the Chamber of Commerce, she has helped lead and organize some of Hatboro’s most meaningful events, from the car show to the parade, to the kid’s entrepreneur market, and more.  These events don’t just happen; they take coordination, leadership, and follow through.  Erin consistently delivers on all three.

Mrs. Schultz stated that her and Patsy have had the privilege of working alongside Erin more personally.  Together they co-founded HAT Packs, an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood food insecurity right here in the Hatboro-Horsham School District.  In that work, we’ve seen firsthand Erin’s dedication, compassion, and ability to turn ideas into real impact.  Simply put Erin gets things done.  She can move mountains when it comes to serving this community.  She is organized, collaborative, and deeply committed to Hatboro’s future.  She listens, she leads, and she follows through.  Hatboro would be incredibly well served to have someone with Erin’s experience, energy, and passion on Borough Council.  Together Denise and Patsy strongly encourage council to appoint Erin to fill this position.

Councilman Myers stated having had the opportunity to review the applications submitted for the Borough Council vacancy, I am pleased to offer my recommendation of Erin McCuen to fill the open seat.  Erin brings a compelling combination of deep community roots and substantial professional experience to this role.  Her family’s connection to Hatboro spans generations, her great grandparents purchased the home she now lives in back in 1946, and that sense of stewardship and belonging is evident throughout her application.  

Professionally, Erin has spent more than fifteen years in operations and project management, leading cross functional teams, managing complex budgets, and building strong organizations relationships.  These are skills that translate directly and meaningfully to the work of municipal governance. What stands out equally, however, is her already demonstrated commitment to this community.  As co-founder and development director of H.A.T. Packs, Vendor Manager for the Hatboro Community Market, and VP and Non-Profit Liaison for the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce, Erin is not someone who is looking to get involved; she already is.  She knows this, Borough; she serves this Borough, and I believe she is well prepared to help lead it.

Councilman Myers thanked and stated he is grateful to all who submitted applications for this vacancy.  It speaks well of our community that residents step forward to serve.  He is confident, however, that Erin McCuen is the right fit for this seat at this time, and he is proud to offer her his recommendation.

MOTION TO APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF NEW COUNCIL PERSON:  Vice President Jacobus made a motion to appoint Erin McCuen to the opening on Borough Council, the motion was seconded by Councilman Hoover, all ayes.  The motion carried 7-0.

ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE:  Mayor Schultz administered the Oath of Office to Councilwoman Erin McCuen who was then seated at the dais.

PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment. 

ADJOURNMENT:  President Reichner adjourned the special meeting of Borough Council at 7:07 PM.
